Kathleen (Martin) McMahan has a superpower. No, she can’t fly or be in two places at one time. Her superpower is positivity and it’s become her “north star” at work and at home. When her son was in the NICU she became laser-focused on learning all she could from the nurses so that when he came home, she was ready. Her positive outlook got her through an incredibly stressful time and, she says, ultimately made her a better mom.

And speaking of having a positive outlook, she gives Peggy Lyn lots of credit there. When she was struggling professionally, Peggy Lyn got her into focusing on goals, journaling, and gratitude. At first she thought it sounded crazy but once she gave it a try, it was a game changer and was the fuel that accelerated her business to levels she never dreamed of.

She met her husband on Tinder, as she says, ’back in the day.’ And she’s a Jersey girl who dreamed of writing for a big time magazine in NYC. She came to Maryland for college (Salisbury University #GoGulls) and it was college classes like sociology, marketing, and gender studies that sparked a lifelong curiosity about people that carries into her work today. She loves being that first friend for her clients and doing all she can to help them feel at home in their new neighborhood. Come to think of it, maybe that’s another superpower.
