Expand Your Palate at Taste of Bethesda

Where can you find steak and Guinness pie, macarons, empanadas and palak paneer within steps of each other? How about spending one moment tapping your toes to swing tunes and the next enjoying the feel-good rhythm of a Caribbean band? Only this weekend, and only in Bethesda, Maryland at the 24th annual Taste of Bethesda on Oct. 5 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Held rain or shine since 1989 and coordinated by the Bethesda Urban Partnership, more than 40,000 attendees gather annually within Bethesda’s WoodmontTaste Bethesda 2013 Triangle. The area along Norfolk, Fairmont, St. Elmo, Cordell and Del Ray Avenues bustles with strollers, couples, families and friends to sample, savor and enjoy the vibrant atmosphere that is at the heart of Bethesda.

“Taste of Bethesda is the most exciting and delicious day in downtown Bethesda,” said Dave Dabney, executive director of the Bethesda Urban Partnership. “We’ve been celebrating downtown Bethesda’s eateries for nearly 25 years and are thrilled at the continuous support and patronage of our restaurants from the local community.”

This year, nearly 60 restaurants and culinary vendors will line the streets under white tents to offer their creations to ticket holders. Taste tickets can be purchased onsite and will run you just $5 for a bundle of four, but admission to the event itself is free.

While the variety and quality of local, exotic food might get you there, the activities for children and music for all will keep you more than entertained. A family friendly community, Taste of Bethesda would not be complete without something special for the kids – this time in the form of arts, crafts, face-painting and more. Five stages featuring more than a dozen musicians and dancers highlight the diverse culture in Montgomery County that makes the community truly great.

Bethesda is a highly desirable community in Maryland. It has even landed atop lists as one of the most livable cities, most education small towns, top earning towns, and even on the list of top 10 hottest-guy cities.
