Kentlands Lakelands 5K
The 18th annual Kentlands Lakelands 5K Race is just around the corner (on September 3, 2011) and there are several ways to join the fun for this great community event that has become a Kentlands and Lakelands 5K tradition.
Kentlands Lakelands 5K Run/Walk
The beautiful New Urban communities of Kentlands and Lakelands are the perfect backdrop for the USATF Certified Kentlands Lakelands 5K race. Nearly 1,500 participants make their way through the neighborhoods and are greeted by cheering crowds, live entertainment and two water stops.
The renowned Post-Race Expo in Market Square Plaza draws 4,000 visitors and partipants to Kentlands Downtown.

Volunteer at the Kentlands Lakelands 5K
It takes plenty of helping hands to make Montgomery County’s largest 5K a success. Whether you’d like to work at a water stop, help with the expo or packet pick-up, there’s a job for you. If you’d like to be a Course Marshal please visit the link below after July 15; all other volunteer opportunities are open now. The Kentlands Lakelands 5K isn’t just fun, it raises money for good causes, too! Last year the Foundation donated:
- $10,500 to the Delores C. Swoyer Summer Camp Scholarship Fund which helps send Gaithersburg kids to camp
- $1,500 to the Maryland Senior Olympics
- $500 to The Dwelling Place
The other proceeds benefitted the Foundation programs such as The Kentlands Community Garden, Kentlands Community Children’s Chorus, Kentlands Film Society, Gaithersburg’s Young Artist Award Competition and much more.
