OLNEY, MD, (May 03, 2013) – In honor of her longtime dedication and leadership to the local community, Peggy Lyn Speicher, Co-Founder & REALTOR®, the Speicher Group of RE/MAX Realty Centre, Inc., has been awarded the 8th Annual Greater Olney-Sandy Spring ATHENA Award by the Olney Chamber of Commerce and Brooke Grove Foundation.
Speicher proudly accepted her award, which recognizes women who are dedicated to serving others, Friday afternoon during a tea luncheon and ceremony at the Brooke Grove Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.
Presenters included Keith Gibb, President of the Brooke Grove Foundation, Jon Hulsizer, Executive Director of the Olney Chamber of Commerce and Joe Buffington, General Manager and Owner of RE/MAX Realty Centre. “What has always impressed me about Peggy Lyn is her leadership, especially with other women,” said Buffington.
From being Co-Founder & REALTOR® of the award-winning Speicher Group at RE/MAX Realty Centre, Inc. to serving on the Success in Style Board of Directors – which empowers metro D.C. citizens to become employed and self-sufficient – Speicher inspires others with her passion.
Speicher was nominated with four other professional community leaders, including a hospice volunteer, a school philanthropist, a director of an award-winning theater, and a dedicated supporter of a children’s drama program.
“This is a tremendous honor from both a community and professional standpoint,” Speicher said. “As community leaders, it’s imperative to show support for what we believe in, and I’m absolutely humbled to be nominated among such strong and prominent women.”
The Greater Olney-Sandy Spring ATHENA Award was established in 2005 in honor of the Brooke Grove founder, Eleanor Howe Marston, who showed endless community service and personal guidance. This particular award is a localized branch of the ATHENA Leadership Award®, inspired by the Greek Goddess who encompasses strength, courage, wisdom and enlightenment.
