Choice Hotels International recently moved their company headquarters from Silver Spring to a new home in Rockville. The Fortune 500 company’s Town Center headquarters welcomed its 400 employees to their new home this past month, according to rockville.patch.com. The Foulger-Pratt owned and operated building will be home to the company’s headquarters and will be occupying over 130,000 square feet of office space.
Additionally, Choice Hotels International has also expanded its chains of Cambria Suites and Ascend. The Cambria Suites will be located across Tara Thai in Rockville’s Town Center. Steve Stoycos, Managing Director of Choice Hotels International, estimates that the new Cambrian Suites hotel will be set and ready to go by early 2015.
The company’s new Rockville headquarters were constructed with the intention of getting Choice Hotels International workers to interact with each other on a more collaborative basis. With this in mind, Pablo Quintana, the associate principal at VOA, the architecture firm contracted to design the headquarters, implemented various common working rooms. The design firm constructed open common areas, as well as open staircases woven throughout the scattered workspaces.
“We wanted to get people to interact with people in a setting that didn’t feel contrived,” Quintana said.
Quintana also designed an outdoor terrace located on the fourth floor of the company’s Rockville headquarters. Additionally, the public-accessible floor contains a lobby, a seating area with chairs and tables, as well as free Wi-Fi for visitors.
