Kentlands Ridge Condominiums is a neighborhood in the Kentlands, a planned community in Gaithersburg, MD. The Kentlands is an award-winning example of “new urbanism”, a movement in city planning that encourages living, shopping, playing and working all within the same pedestrian-oriented community.
The new urbanism movement, which began in the U.S. in the early 1980s, has become a model for community planning worldwide. Kentlands is one of the first new urbanist developments in the United States. Residential property in the Kentlands includes large and small single-family homes, town homes, garage town homes, mixed-use buildings and condominiums.
Pedestrian-Friendly Living
The idea behind Kentlands was to create a community where living, shopping, dining out and recreation are all within easy walking distance. The community is designed so that cars are less visible and less necessary. Downtown Kentlands
Downtown Kentlands offers a wide variety of dining, shopping and recreational options. Downtown Kentlands sponsors cultural events like outdoor concerts, art shows and festivals in every season.
The community also has a beautiful New England-style clubhouse available for residents’ use as well as the Kentlands Mansion, an art museum, musical performance space and party and reception room.
Local Amenities
The area around Kentlands has much to offer residents. Several parks, including Seneca Creek State Park, are within an easy drive. The schools are part of the top-rated Montgomery County Public School system. And Kentlands is a few minutes’ drive from I-270, I-495 and the new Intercounty Connector and is close to the Shady Grove Metro station.
Kentlands Ridge Condominiums
Kentlands consists of about 1,800 homes in several sub-communities. Kentlands Ridge is one of about a dozen condominium neighborhoods located within the community. Kentlands Ridge has an active condominium association which maintains the building’s common areas, plans events and keeps residents informed with a monthly newsletter.
Kentlands Ridge’s modern, garden-style building is four stories high and contains 91 one, two and three bedroom units. The largest units are three-bedroom, three-bath, two-story apartments with balconies, dramatic 16-foot cathedral ceilings and modern, open-plan kitchens.
