The 2010 U.S. Census tabulated the city’s population at 61,209, making it the third largest incorporated city in Maryland, behind Baltimore and Frederick. Rockville, along with neighboring Gaithersburg and Bethesda, is at the core of the Interstate 270 Technology Corridor which is home to numerous software and biotechnology companies as well as several federal government institutions. The city also has several upscale regional shopping centers and is one of the major retail hubs in Montgomery County.

The headquarters of the U.S. Public Health Service is on Montrose Road, while the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission’s headquarters are also in the city.

Rockville Town Center is the hub of county and city governments and home to residents, restaurants, and retail. Here you will find specialty shops, barbershops, salons, and coffee shops. There are ethnic grocers, farmer’s markets, and office space. You can take in a movie at Regal Cinema and then dine in (or take out) from an eclectic mix of eateries and restaurants. All this is just steps away from the Metro Red Line and MARC train stations, with much more planned for the coming years.
